Founded in 1972, the Diocese of Charlotte encompasses the 46 counties in the western half of North Carolina, with more than 530,000 Catholics including an array of peoples, rites and languages. We operate 93 parishes and missions, 20 schools, and more than 50 ministries and programs – including food banks, counseling, prison ministry, youth and elder ministry, campus ministry, anti-poverty efforts, refugee resettlement and pro-life advocacy.
Founded in September 1991, the Catholic News Herald and companion CNH Español is the Diocese of Charlotte's official news outlet. The award-winning news team publishes a print edition that has a circulation of 61,000 and growing, along with a website that is updated daily, one of the largest YouTube channels among U.S. (arch)dioceses, and a robust social media presence on Facebook, Instagram and X.
